malappuram: A new project 'Green Royalty' has begun in Ponnani, which is yet another innovative initiative of Ponnani Municipality that had initiated so many model projects in connection with nature conservation. 'Green Royalty' is the mechanism by which the conservators of paddy fields, ponds, sacred groves etc. get annual royalty every year. This is the first time when a local self government give royalty to the nature conservators. The scheme was inaugrated by Dr.T.N.Seema, Executive Vice Chairperson, Kerala Haritha Kerala Mission. Mr. Amith Meena IAS, District Collector, Malappuram was the chief guest for the function.
